Going to Gulf Wars XIX in March? As of this past Sunday it was eleven weeks until the day the site opens for general admission. Holy cows (and horses) I got a LOT of stuff to do in that short time. I think my free time between now and then just went to zero. As I do a few of the projects I hope to do some updates here and I will be making some notes here as the planning process goes forward for anyone interested. Please note that right over to the right somewhere I have put up a count down until the site opens. No reason to panic as of yet, right? Got plenty of time and a good handle on things at this point. Hope to see everyone there!
On the second day of the big battles I woke up feeling it. What exactly was it? Well the horse that must have been on the field at some point that ran me down via my left shoulder. I vaguely recall having been hit in that shoulder at some point during the battles the day before, but I did not think it was that serious. This morning it was definitely tight. Of course some of that I am sure was also because of the out of shape me and the 100 pound war shield that I was carrying.

They are awesome looking first of all, but beyond that you should go check out the video at the EbonWolfe armoury website where they are testing them.

Okay, I realize that by the first day of the official war starting, I had been on site for three nights and two full days. I made notes of them before lightly, but mostly I was just getting a good lay of the land. So Monday was the official start of the war and I was so looking forward to getting involved in the big battles. On tap for the day was bridge battles with limited fronts and a lot of hard pressed up tight quarter constant engagement.

I have always planned my SCA schedule over three different time spans. The first is Gulf Wars to roughly Pennsic. Gulf Wars typically marks the beginning of the equestrian activities for the year and historically, the end of July (or Pennsic) marks the middle of the season for it. The next is of course is from that point to roughly the end of October, which for my two kingdoms is pretty much the end of the equestrian activities. And the one coming up is the winter from roughly November to Gulf Wars.
